The Circulation Department is located on the first floor of the library. The circulation desk is the place to check out all library materials, including interlibrary loan items.

General Information

Checkout period. The checkout period is 3 weeks for books and most government documents, 1 week for audiovisual materials, and 2 days for bound journals. Materials are subject to recall after the initial loan period, if needed. CSU-Pueblo students must have a valid student ID to check out materials and may check out as many items as they wish.

Renewals. All items, except for bound journals, may be renewed by bringing them to the circulation desk, or once by telephone and/or online through My Library Accounts.

Courtesy returns. Circulating materials checked out directly from other libraries, (in addition to interlibrary loan items), can be routed
for return to their home library if the circulation staff is notified.

Course & Electronic Reserves

For Students
Your assignments may require you to read materials on reserve at the Library. Faculty place materials (books, test booklets, photocopies) on reserve to allow entire classes to access the same materials. Materials placed on electronic reserve can be accessed from any computer. Print reserve materials are located at the circulation desk. Please note: Fines for overdue print reserve materials are heavy! See the Fines Schedule for more information.

How to access print and electronic reserves:

  • To use print reserve materials, present your student ID. Reserve materials may be checked out for 2 hour use in the library only, and 24 hour or 1 week periods, at the faculty member's discretion. See the reserve list which gives the professor's name, course, and all materials on reserve for a particular class.

  • To use electronic reserve materials, find your professor's course site, and use the password he or she provided to you to log in. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader loaded in order to view and print these documents. Free copies are available for download at the Adobe web site.

For Faculty
Before materials can be placed on reserve, the Department requires signed copies of the reserve form and the CSU-Pueblo Print Reserve Policy or Electronic Reserve Policy.

You will be notified if any of the materials submitted pose a copyright issue. All faculty and student authored materials must be accompanied by a signed Faculty Intellectual Property Release Form, or a Student Intellectual Property Release Form.

  • Professors may submit up to fifty (50) course reserve items per course. Reserve materials must be submitted to the Library within the first week of the semester they are to be used, and should be arranged with a minimum of 72 hours preceding the assignment.

  • Books on reserve should contain specific reading assignments.
  • Personal copies will be accepted for reserve with the stipulation that the University Library cannot assume responsibility for damage or loss. All personal copies/materials must be picked up at the circulation desk at the end of the academic year.

  • Items to be placed on electronic reserve should be submitted preferably via e-mail to Reserves Staff. Please note if materials can be found via a library subscription database. All file types are supported.
  • Audiovisual materials may be placed on reserve for student viewing in the library. The checkout period may be extended over two hours at the faculty member's discretion.
  • The University Library does not retrieve and photocopy materials to be placed on reserve.
  • Professors are responsible for providing their students with the password to electronic course reserves.

  • Electronic reserve will course sites be archived on the last day of final exams of that semester. If a student has an incomplete, he or she may continue to access reserve materials by using a new course reserves password provided by the professor.

  • All materials will be removed from reserve at the end of the academic semester. There is no permanent reserve. Only materials that are in the public domain will be added after the first two weeks of a semester. Laptop & Projector Checkout

Laptop computers and projectors are available at the circulation desk on a first come first serve basis. They can only be checked out by currently registered students, who have a valid CSU- Pueblo ID card. A second form of photo identification must be presented and the Circulation Department will hold one form of ID at the desk until the laptop or projector and all accompanying equipment are returned.

  • Students must be in good standing with no fines or fees at or exceeding $20.00 and no blocks on their circulation records.

  • Technology items can only be checked out after a student has completed and signed the CSU-Pueblo University Library Laptop Agreement Form.

  • Wireless is available on first through third floors, with limited availability on fourth floor.

  • Laptops and projectors can be checked out for a three-hour period (subject to recall at any time) with the option of renewing one time for an additional three hours, if there are no students waiting. Reservations will not be accepted; however, students can add their name to the waiting list at the Circulation Desk. Laptops and projectors are available for In Library Use only.

  • Equipment may not be taken out of the library or to the Library Wing, and are due back at the circulation desk 15 minutes prior to closing.

  • Laptop hard drives will be erased after each use, and all information should be saved to a disk, CD, or other portable storage device. CDRs are available for $1.00 at the Circulation Desk. Printing is available and ID Accounts will be debited at $.05 per page. Printouts can be obtained at the Reference Department printer on the second floor. Additional printing can be purchased at the Card Value Centers located on the Library first and second floors.

Lost & Found

Lost and found items in the library are regularly turned in to the circulation desk, and from there are brought the larger campus lost and found in Auxiliary Services in the Occhiato Center.

Audiovisual Materials

The Audiovisual Collection is located on the first floor near the Circulation Area. Viewing and listening equipment for reserve materials is also available on the first floor. Students, faculty and staff, District 60 and 70 and PSAS faculty and students, community members and CLC holders with proper identification may check out audiovisual materials not on reserve for student use for a one-week period with renewals available. See General Information above for renewal details.

Hold Service

The Hold Service is available for CSU-Pueblo faculty. Hold items include all circulating materials in the AV collections area which are normally available for checkout. Faculty members must indicate a specific date and time for pickup and check with the AV collection area at the scheduled time. The due date will not be extended upon return, if the item has had a hold placed on it.

Community & Pueblo K-12 Schools Users

Community members may purchase an LID card for $1.00 at the Circulation Desk to have circulation (up to 4 items), interlibrary loan, and printing privileges. LID cardholders who wish to print materials should initially consult a library staff member at the Circulation Desk or the second-floor Information Desk for help in setting up the user's LID account for printing.

District 60 and District 70 high school students with proper identification may check out 4 items.
